The Community Clean-Up Event was held on Saturday October 8, 2022 and was a great success.

Twelve 40-yard containers were provided by Republic Service and placed strategically throughout the City, allowing residents to drop off trash and bulky items.

Staff started as early as 6:30 am to ensure everything was ready for the 8 am check-in. The City was divided into ten sections, each accompanied by at least two staff leaders. There were 150 volunteers, 50 Hawthorne City Staff, 12 Republic Services Staff, and 15 Martinez Landscape Staff throughout the event.

There were ten groups of 15+ volunteers in each community.  Six trash trucks and six pickup trucks were deployed throughout the City picking up Bulky Items.

600 cubic yards of waste was collected from 8 am-1:30 pm.
