Angie Reyes EnglishAngie Reyes English was elected to the City of Hawthorne’s City Council 2009 after serving as City Clerk for four years and was re-elected to the City Council in 2020.

As your Councilmember, Angie has worked tirelessly to strengthen neighborhood safety, create quality local jobs and improve the health and welfare of local families. Over the past few years, crime has decreased, thousands of new jobs have been created and Hawthorne has made critical investments in new street repair and public safety projects while Angie was in office. Having worked with local, state, and federal officials, Angie served as a council aide and field deputy to Los Angeles' Ninth Council District. In addition, she worked as a Senior District Representative in the 51st Assembly District and in the State Senate for the 26th Senate District. She has volunteered as a crisis intervention worker with the City of Los Angeles’ Office of the Mayor for more than five years. In 2011, Angie was elected to represent the 51st Assembly District in the California Democratic Party as Delegate. She has been appointed to the Metro South Bay Service Council (Term: 2014-2017) as of 6/26/14.

Angie has served as a Senior Field Deputy for the City of Los Angeles for 16 years. Known for reaching out and building coalitions, Angie is a dedicated activist and Christian member of the Hawthorne community. Angie brings her background working in government and her perspectives not only as a stakeholder in the City of Hawthorne, but as a parent and grandparent.
