On April 9th, the City of Hawthorne Public Works Department held a sewer improvement project groundbreaking ceremony. This project is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) with an approximately $3,000,000 construction project cost.

This improvement project will enhance pipe flow and storage volume capacity and increase the system life span. It consists of replacing and upsizing 2,900 linear feet of 12" pipes and install new 830 linear feet of 18" sewer vitrified pipe line. Additionally, 400 linear feet of storm drain pipe will be installed to mitigate local flooding at the Bridge of Hope Community Housing.
