The 48th Annual South Bay Medal of Valor luncheon was held on May 23rd at the Torrance Marriott. The Medal of Valor, Distinguished Service, and Life Saving Awards are given to police officers and firefighters for actions taken that do not necessarily define the individual, but call attention to their promise to the community to be there when needed and put others' concerns above their own.

 

A total of four Hawthorne Police Officers received the Distinguished Service Award, and seven HPD officers also received the Life Saving Award.
