The Bridge of Hope Community Housing celebrated their 1 year Anniversary. The 12 unit pallet shelters have housed approximately about 42 clients in the past year; 12 of them being placed in permanent housing. The homes located on 131st Street and Simms Ave. is an interim facility that provides a safe place for a fresh start for the unhoused community. They also provided health care, counseling, and the opportunity to participate social activities. The City was able to build and fund this project through various grants and awards that were initially set for 3 years. City staff is hoping to secure more funding to continue this project that has proven to be successful in Hawthorne.
