Mayor ProTem David Patterson gave a report on the 1st Annual Hawthorne Police Department Basketball Academy.  The clinic was a week long program for kids. Lieutenant Kenny Craig and Sergeant Shawn Kemp participated in the program. Between 80-90 kids attended.

A certificate of appreciation was given to Coach Eric Cooper for his partnership in the clinic.

Councilmember Alex Monteiro recognized all the staff that made the 2nd Annual World Fest 2022 a success with Certificates of Appreciation.

A committee was formed to review non-profit organization's applications for distributing funds from a $150,000.00 grant from a community partner. Four organizations were selected and presented with checks. The organizations included the Hawthorne Historical Society, Hawthorne Parks & Rec Foundation, Hawthorne School District and the South Bay Universal Child Development Center.

Councilmember Angie English reported that another round of Grant funds would be available and encouraged more non-profile organizations to reach out to the City and find out how to apply.
