Councilmember Alex Monteiro recognized and presented plaques to Norm Morton and Bob Marsala for 40 years of dedicated service on the Hawthorne President's Council. A scholarship will be given annually to an outstanding culinary arts Leuzinger High School student in Bob Marsala's behalf.

Alex Monteiro, on behalf of the Hawthorne President's Council, presented a donation of a check for $14,000.00 to Captain Tomatani for the Hawthorne K-9 Unit. Many members and organizations in the Community donated funds towards the K-9 unit.

Ryan Richard President of the Holly Park Neighborhood Association presented their annual scholarship to graduating senior Brooklyn Lofton. Brooklyn is studying forensic chemistry at Cal State San Marcos and was unable to attend, her mother accepted the award on her behalf.

Prior year's recipient is studying psychology at Grand Canyon University and was also present.
