Veteran's Day - Veteran Recognition
Councilmember Alex Monteiro presented a proclamation to Luciano Aguilar in recognition of his contribution and service to the Community of Hawthorne.
Mr. Aguilar attended Leuzinger High School and enlisted in the US Air Force. He served for 10 years and was a member of the Presidential K9 Team.
Returning to Hawthorne, after his service, he has been active member in the Community and has started a family business where he has trained service dogs for veterans in need of support.
October Good Neighbor Award
Human Resources Director Erika Lampkin presented the October Good Neighbor Award to City Staff members, Madelene Francis, Catherine Alcantara and Peggy Holt.
Madelene Francis, from the Police Department, and has been an employee for 30 years. Madelene is recognized for her exceptional service and extensive knowledge of the Traffic Bureau which has contributed to the efficient functioning of the office.
Catherine Alcantara, from the Housing Department, is a natural leader and has been involved in every aspect of the duties in the office. Catherine is one of the top achieving employees in Housing and has worked after hours in city events. She is currently also involved in a cross training program where she is learning the management duties in the City Manager's Office.
Peggy Holt, from the IT Department, has been an employee for 32 years. Peggy has been involved in the growth and administration of the financial system from the old mini computer days to a modern web based system and is also webmaster for the City's website.
