All meetings of the City Council are open to the public and citizens are encouraged to attend to learn more about how the City operates. City Council meetings are held in the Council Chambers, 4455 W. 126th St., on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.

The City Council agenda is the official order of business at Council meetings. Items for the agenda are prepared and submitted to the City Council by the City Manager and staff. The agenda is available online on the City’s website at www.cityofhawthorne.org, where the public may access and/or download the agenda and staff reports.

 Ballot Measures

While voting in the November 2022 General Election, Hawthorne residents will be able to vote on Measure I, a proposed charter adoption.  This proposed measure was presented at the June and July 2022 Council meetings.  It would allow the city to obtain complete authority over City affairs, allow all councilmembers to appoint members to City commissions subject to the approval of council as well as uphold the authority of the City Attorney to prosecute misdemeanors and set annual compensation at the 2021 HUD low-income level for a family of two.
