Project Description
On December 2023, the City of Hawthorne was awarded the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant for $200,000 to develop a comprehensive safety plan for the entire City. The plan will include traffic safety improvements to eliminate roadway fatalities, such as planning a complete streets approach through vehicle speed reduction, adding ADA-accessible infrastructure and increasing bicycle and pedestrian safety. This is a major step that the City is taking towards enhanced roadway safety and will help the City identify the factors that contribute most to local traffic collisions and better position the City for safety funding from state and federal grant programs.
